Checking a roofer's license or registration
Mississippi State Board of Contractors (MSBOC) licenses residential work under Miss. Code Title 73, Chapter 59. A Residential Roofer license (or Residential Remodeler license, which also covers roofing) is required for residential roofing jobs over $10,000, counting labor and materials. New home construction needs a residential builder license over $50,000. Unlicensed residential builders and remodelers cannot sue to enforce their contracts, and the board can cite and stop work. Starkville's own permit forms repeat the $10,000 roofer threshold. The $10,000 figure was not seen in the statute text itself.
